*A companion to Dumplin! (You do not need to read them in order *I did not)
Author: Julie Murphy
Release Date: May 8th, 2018
Summary: This is Millie Michalchuk's year. She is not going back to fat camp (like she has done every summer), no she is ready to confront the boy she has been in love with while she chases her secret dreams. Dreams that have nothing to do with dieting or finding the perfect workout to help her get skinny but rather her passion.
But as it turns out, this is not the year Callie Reyes expected it to be. She has always been the pretty, popular girl with the perfect boyfriend and is now next in line to be the school's dance team (the shamrocks) captain until she makes a decision that will bring her and Millie's worlds together.
This is such a touching story, about how the people you least expect to be friends not only turn out to be your best ones but the ones who make you, your best self.
RATING: 9/10
Why?: This book definitely was a truly great story about how we need to start to change our prejudices, or else some of the best things may not happen. While I really enjoyed this story and how the author's writing style really communicated the bonds of unexpected friendship and their strength, fiction just is not my genre! Though I think that it is a great story that has so many life lessons within it!
Am I reading the companions?; Though I did really enjoy the book, I think that I may wait a while before reading any of the other companions, just because of how many other books I want to read and I do need a break from fiction.
